from the Art garage went over the plan for The Three Corners Arts &
Performance Festival. Ellen director of the Norbertine volunteers said that
they would be able to help out for the event, also Judy White, Amy Kocha, and
Shirley Hyer have stepped up to help out on the committee.
East
River Trail Project Meeting: February 11th there will be a
presentation on the project presented at the board meeting
Candidate
debate:
February 10th at Neighborworks on 437 S. Jackson St. The debate for
Alderperson and School Board will be from 6 pm to 8 pm.
Earth
Week: S
Boehlen will have more information on what day we will be able to set up the
clean up.
Kids
Day: More
information will be coming as far as where we will be able to do the same type
of thing that we did last year where we give out popcorn.
National
Night Out:
Still looking forward to trying to make something work. S Boehlen stated that
since we have been working well with Old North that maybe we can do something
with them. Judy suggested ditching that idea and doing a Halloween party. Partnering with the Boys and Girls Club would
also be something to think about as well.
Annual
Meeting: S
Boehlen is thinking about doing a potluck for that meeting on October 14th. The idea was accepted as something that would
be a great alternative to hopefully get more people involved.
Winterfest: Sunday December 12th
form 4 pm to 7 pm.
Fundraisers:
Selling popcorn, candy and soda at the Arts & Performance festival,
rummage sale.
Motion made to spend $70.00 to have the Neighborhood Awareness flyer printed
up made by S Hyer and seconded by C Knepper, all approved motion carried. Also
we will be hand delivering the flyers out to save on postage. The flyer will
also include the information about the East River Trail presentation and the
candidate debate.
Old
business:
Winterfest: Attendance was down to 56 from 2008’s number. We are still positive that the event will continue to grow. L Boehlen created wreaths & gave out as gifts for the 3 best-decorated houses. S Boehlen proposed that for next year we make some and sell them during Winterfest as part of a fundraiser. The cost of making the wreaths is only about $5.00 and that would be a profit of $5.00 if we would sell them for $10.00. Judy White suggested that we also make one for the Three Corners Sign.
Recognition
Dinner: Motion
was made by C Knepper & 2nd by S Hyer to wait till next
year. All approved motion carried.
Newsletter: S Boehlen is looking for
the 1st one to go out March 1st. L Boehlen requested that
any articles that are submitted be no more than 125 words. Also the ability to
create copies of the newsletters in other languages is also a possibility by
request. S Boehlen stated that if we can
get some of the businesses to place ads in the newsletter as well. Quiz question where they can email back the
answer and be put in for a drawing for a prize.
