Also we need to starting asking for donations again from TNT, Pomps, Brown County Vet and the Teamsters again. We can offer ad space in the upcoming newsletter.

New business:

Summer Activities:

National Night Out; Always the first Tuesday in August and we know that Norma T is not interested in running the event this year. We are hoping that we can help the Neighborhood Watch to put on the National Night out this year and expand the invitation to everyone in the Neighborhood Association.

Walks; We are going to be starting our Neighborhood Awareness walks on Thursday April 16th meeting at the sign @ 6:30pm

Kids Day; Thursday June 25th and this may be a great time to use the popcorn popper and get our name out there. Also selling popcorn at BayFest and Art Street, Paul N is going to look into that.

Bull Frogs Night; We are hoping to do another successful Neighborhood Night with the Bull Frogs this summer, Steve & Linda B will have more information to come

Mini Grants: Steve B reviewed the mini grants that we are going to be submitting; the custom street signs, Winterfest, and the Art piece to be commissioned. If anyone has any other ideas please bring them to the next meeting.

AAA signs; Shirley H is going to contact AAA again this year to request the red “slow for children” signs again this year, she will update us on when they will be available and will ask for 60.

Sign Green Space: Paul N and Henry W are going to work on the green space. He made a motion to spend $75 on more bark and replacement solar lights. The motion was seconded by Claudia K and unanimously passed by the board.

Bike Path Meeting: Old Main sent an email letting people know that there is going to be a meeting on Thursday April 23rd at 8:30am at Neighbor Works about extending the bike path from Monroe to behind East High. Everyone is welcome to attend the meeting. Linda B & Paul N said that they would be able to make that meeting to support the bike path on behalf of the Neighborhood.

Henry’s Museum Field Trip: Thursday July 9th we will be meeting at the Nevil Museum rather than having our normal meeting, since we would not normally have a meeting in July anyway.

Old business:

Newsletter: Linda B asked who had ideas for the articles so we could get an idea on what we have and what we will need.

Henry W is going to write an article on being the historian and getting information on the neighborhood.

Claudia K is writing an article on the Framing Etiquette and Fixx Photography.

Shirley is going to do another Kitchen Korner

Paul N is going to do another memory lane themed story on Main Street.

Daniela G is going to write one from her perspective on the neighborhood from the CSI standpoint.

Amy K is also going to do one on her perspective from being Alderperson.

There should be a story about Lillian LaPlant who passed away at 101 years old. She lived in the Neighborhood on Morrow St for most of her life.

JoAnne P would like to see the list of the Alderpersons names, phone numbers and addresses listed as well.

We will be asking for any pictures that people can share showing what the buildings or landmarks looked like in the past.

Linda B will write an article on the Neighborhood Games that is going to be put on by the Parks Department on May 16th

It was proposed that a project meeting will be scheduled for April 30th and that all articles will be passed into Linda B by April 22 so that she can have the first draft of the newsletter all set up for that project meeting.

Open forum/Announcements:

JoAnne P & Emily Y have the information on the park bench for Mary Klein. Since Emily Y had to leave early to pick up her daughter the board allowed her and JoAnne P. to go ahead with their presentation first, and then carry on with the meeting.

The two of them brought in proposals for two different options that would be close to the bench that Perkins Park has by their sign. Both were natural river rock benches that would have a granite seat and an engraving, the proposals also including the pricing for delivery and installation. Each benches engraving was estimated at $296.00 because it is $8.00 per letter and she had as an example “In Memory of Mary Klein President 2006-2007”, but also stated that not only could the wording be different, but there was also the possibility of using a brass plate rather than the engraving but she did not have any pricing on that. The total estimates were for a bench that was 39x16xH18 $981.00 and one that was $841.00.

Steve B asked if she has spoken to Parks about getting permission to out the bench by the sign, and she stated that because the benches were more intended for landscaping not for sitting on there would be no problem.

Paul N wanted to know what the point was to putting a bench that people could/should not be sitting on. He thinks that he would rather have something ornamental if that is the purpose of it verses a bench you can’t use.

Emily Y reminded the board that this was something that they has talked about doing after she passed away, and the board had agreed at that time. She also stated that she talked to Cheryl Renier-Wigg and was told that the city would not approve any memorials in a mini grant, so that would not be an option.

Paul N made a motion to take the concept under advisement and table it till the next meeting, the motion was seconded by Linda B and unanimously passed by the board.

Motion to adjourn meeting by Steve B and second by Linda B at 8:10pm
