New
Business:
Steve
Boehlen announced that Judy White resigned from the board.
Steve
Boehlen made a motion to forgo a meeting in July, the board carried the motion,
and we will meet again in August at the Transit Building. Emily Ysebaert is
going to get the agreement that needs to be signed either to Steve Boehlen or
will fill it out herself so that everything is in place for the 8/08 meeting.
A Thank you
letter needs to be sent to Sandi Van Sistine for letting us use the Art Garage
space to have out meetings.
Paul Novotny
did a great job on the donation letter. He is also going to contact Jim from
Pomp’s to see if he will match the donation given to Navarino for 125 Bullfrog
tickets. A thank you letter needs to be sent out to TNT Crust for their
donation of $500.
As part of
the donation TNT Crust was interested in having a cross walk on Morrow Street
so that it is safer for their employees to cross from the plant to the parking
lot. Steve Boehlen brought it to the attention of Alderperson Amy Kocha, and
she will bring it to traffic.
Steve
Boehlen and Paul Novotny will get together and write up the operation grant.
Emily Ysebaert requested to see the grant before it is submitted to the city.
Steve Boehlen will email it to the board for approval before he passes it in to
the city.
Steve
Boehlen presented and passed out the business card that he created so that if
need be the board members can write their information on the cards and hand
them out to people in the neighborhood. He had created them and printed them
off as no cost to the association. The goal was to see how useful they would be
in getting information to people in the Neighborhood.
Amy Kocha
had a follow up to the fireworks complaint that Emily Ysebaert had brought to
her attention at the April 10th meeting. She has a meeting set up
with Jim Arts and the fire chief to help reduce the availability of fireworks.
Steve
Boehlen addressed the issues that have been brought forth regarding the lack of
response from the CP’s and the police. He sent an email to Jim Galvin, and has
received a voice mail letting him know that he is going to follow up, and set
up a meeting with him self and Brad Linsmeyer once he comes back from vacation.
Steve
Boehlen is hopeful that with the re-structuring that officer Galvin spoke of at
the MNLC meeting, that there will be more communication between the neighborhood
and the CP’s. The plan will help the CP’s in each neighborhood have the NRT
(Neighborhood Response Team) be there to help handle issues and neutralize
problems. That way we as a neighborhood will be able to have the support that
we feel we should be getting.
Also at the
MNLC meeting officer Galvin did advise that the NA presidents should have the
CP’s cell phone numbers and that they should pick up unless they are on
vacation if called. Steve Boehlen’s plan is to have officers Galvin, Grygleski and Linsmeyer
to a NA meeting to discuss the re-structuring and the issues to see about
improving the relationship with the neighborhood.
There were
two streetlights that were approved and added to the alleyway in between Elm
and Cedar Street and one in the alleyway between Cedar and Morrow Street.
We will be
having a Mini-grant project meeting on July 24th at 1570 Elm St to
discuss the next steps that we need to take to precede with the street signs
and the paver pathway. We will talk about Winterfest closer to fall. We will be
serving burgers and brats.
We will also
be discussing the success of the Bullfrogs night and articles for the next
newsletter.
Old
Business:
Bullfrog
Game:
The sale for
the Neighborhood Night out with the Bullfrogs is going really well! Right now
Navarino is in the lead with 125 thanks to the donation from Pomps. So unless
we also get a donation for 125 tickets then it looks like they will be picking
someone to throw out the first pitch. Their plan is to issue vouchers when someone
sees a kid doing a good deed that can be redeemed for a ticket to the game.
That way they are making a connection with that kid, and also getting to meet
their parents.
We have
donated $96.00 for 24 tickets that Nicolet School and Anne Sullivan school
principals will hand out to families that would not other wise have the chance
to have a night out like that.
Fliers:
Steve
Boehlen wanted to remind everyone that when passing out the fliers we are not
to put them in mailboxes. The mailman spoke to Linda Boehlen about a lot of
fliers were left in mailboxes, and they were picked up and dropped off on the
supervisor’s desk. Steve Boehlen will get rubber bands to help with the fliers,
so that they can be attached to the door handles and not be left in the
mailboxes.
AAA Signs:
Emily
Ysebaert called and as long as there is a member of AAA among us they can
contact AAA and request as many signs as we would want. Shirley Hyer is an AAA
member and she will call Todd from AAA and request 60 signs to be passed out
too who ever would like one.
Gary’s
Plaque:
CSI Aaron
informed us that Gary’s bike was stolen out of his garage. A Motion was made to
see if we can get a bike from the city and have a plaque to thank him for his
years of service to the community attached to it. Steve is going to follow up
to see what he can find out.
Open
forum/announcements:
Steve
Boehlen wanted to let everyone know that in dealing with the kids in our area,
the neighbors have banded together and they let the kids know when they are
doing something that is not respectful. So far things have been getting better.
Also there
will be a 3rd of July block party help at 1570 Elm St and all are
invited to join us.
Motion was
made by Linda Boehlen to end the meeting at 8:17pm and seconded by Tina
Novotny.
