Employment Information
The Green Bay Fire Department currently employs 195 men and women. The majority of employees are assigned to the Fire Suppression (Operations) Division. The firefighters are assigned to one of three 24-hour shifts that, when computed over a 27-day period as required by the Fair Labor Standards Act, averages 53 hours per week.
The current minimum requirements for application as approved by the Green Bay Police & Fire Commission are:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Associate Degree in Fire Science.
- Current EMT-Paramedic certification.
- Current certification as a Fire Fighter II by the State of Wisconsin or an IFSAC accredited agency.
- *Green Bay Fire Department CPAT (Candidate Physical Ability Test) certification in the year that you apply. For example, if you are applying in 2011, you need to have a certification that you received from the Green Bay Fire Department in 2011.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
