MacArthur Heights Neighborhood Association Board Meeting

Attending this meeting were Gary Van Calster, Anita LaClair, Paula Lees, and Julie O’Connell.

Anita reported that there was $521.27 in our account and $11.77 in petty cash. All bills are paid.

Julie reported that she received a copy of the old by-laws from Anita via email in the form of a word document so the changes will be easy to make.  The boundaries will be changed and a few other small items must be added. These new by-laws will be posted on our website.

Gary has been working on obtaining some smaller signs similar to a realtor’s sign that our association can use to advertise upcoming events in our neighborhood. We have decided to go with Green Bay Blue with a quote of $61 each. We have decided to order 3 signs and our alderman, Brian Danzinger has agreed to pay for one of them. They will be used to advertise the Ice Cream Social on July 22. Look for our signs at the corner of Wood and Hazelwood, the corner of WestPoint and Wood, and the corner of WestPoint and Packerland.

Anita explained the process for applying for the grant which we are eligible for. Also we need to change the check signatures to Paula, Julie and Gary.

Gary and the rest of the board members present discussed the upcoming Ice Cream Social and the different jobs to be assigned and also the products that need to be purchased.  Anita said that she will call the people on the volunteer list that was passed around at the annual meeting and see how many volunteers are still interested in helping out. We decided not to have a donation jar, and also not to collect cans. Gary will bring the ice cream scoops and water, Anita will bring the leftover trash bags from the Beaver Dam Cleanup, Julie will bring a table, a camera to take pictures, and napkins. Paula will purchase the ice cream and cones, bowls and plastic spoons. We still need to find someone with a truck that can haul the freezer for the ice cream. Everyone should bring their own chairs.

Our new officers were voted into office. Anita made a motion for Paula to become the new Treasurer and Julie seconded it. Gary made a motion that James Andersen becomes our new Vice President and Julie seconded it.  These new positions will be posted on the website. We thanked Anita for her many hours spent as Secretary and Treasurer for our association. She would like to stay involved but will not be a board member. She will stay connected through phone calls and email and will assist us in any way she can.

Our next board meeting is scheduled for Aug 10th at Gary’s home, 1935 Knotty Pine Dr.  All are welcome. We encourage people to attend to voice their opinions and to give us suggestions for using the grant money. We briefly discussed an idea to donate school supplies to needy students that attend MacArthur Elementary School.
