Lane Closures |
Posted July 14: Military Avenue will be closed at West Mason Street beginning at 9 a.m. on Thursday, July 15, 2010 and will reopen at approximately 3:30 p.m. on Friday, July 16, 2010. This closure is needed to allow contractors time to repair the temporary asphalt pavement along West Mason Street at the crossing of Military Avenue. During the period of the closure, traffic will be able to travel along West Mason Street, but will not be able to turn off of West Mason Street onto Military Avenue. Also, traffic will not be able to cross West Mason Street on Military Avenue during the closure. Alternate access routes to local businesses are well marked. These temporary road closures are necessary to continue the reconstruction work to prepare for a new and vibrant Military Ave in November 2010. Please note that Military Avenue will remain open to businesses during the entire construction process. Corridor Plan The reconstruction of Military Avenue has already begun, and now we need to create a plan for how we will leverage that $12 million investment into a better future for the entire corridor. The City of Green Bay is about to launch that planning process: The Military Avenue Market Analysis and Corridor Design Plan. This planning process is all about helping the community formulate a shared vision for what the future holds beyond the curb of the new street. Visit the web site |

The utility reconstruction portion of the work will initially involve the reconstruction of water main, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer. The City expects to complete reconstruction of the utilities between the Canadian National rail crossing north of Western Avenue and Dousman Street by May 15. Utility reconstruction between the rail crossing and Biemeret Street should be completed by June 20. We anticipate pavement construction to start in late May 2010.
