Military Avenue RFQ

The City of Green Bay is seeking consulting services to help ensure the City’s nearly $10 million investment in Military Avenue becomes the catalyst for reinvestment along this important west side corridor. The consultant selected for this project will help the City create a market based strategic vision and implementation plan that is founded on sound market analysis and community input.

A pre-bid meeting was held on January 19, 2010 to discuss the Sewers 1-10 Contract.  This project is the utility reconstruction contract for Military Avenue.  An electronic copy of the meeting is available for listening or download, in an MP3 format, by using the link to the left.

Public Information Meeting #2 Set
A Public Information Meeting (PIM) for the Military Avenue reconstruction project was held Thursday, September 17, from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. at Kennedy Elementary School, 1754 9th Street.  Brief presentations were made by staff and the engineering consultant at 5:45 and 6:45 p.m. providing an overview of the current design and changes made to the design since PIM #1, held in December 2008.  Following the presentations, staff met individually with attendees to discuss the project and answer questions.

Following the March 3, 2009 meeting of the City of Green Bay Common Council has directed the Department of Public Works to proceed with the design of a 4-lane signalized plan for the Military Avenue Corridor.  The Department of Public Works is working with their consultant, GRAEF, to continue with detailed design of this alternative.  The concept plan for the 4-lane signalized alternative can be viewed using the link on the left side of this page.

The anticipation for this project would be to have 60-percent design plans by mid- to late summer of 2009.  The 60-percent plans will further address access location modifications, details on intersections, and other changes to the corridor.  We will also begin developing landscaping and lighting plans during this time.

February 3, 2009: The City of Green Bay Common Council adopted the four-lane roundabout intersection as the preferred alternative for Military Avenue.  Given this directive by the Common Council, the Department of Public Works and the design consultant, GRAEF, will begin the process of carrying forward the conceptual design plans for the Military Avenue Corridor.

Military Avenue Reconstruction Project

Welcome to the Military Avenue Reconstruction Project website.  The purpose of this site is to provide information to the general public regarding the design and construction of Military Avenue between Langlade Avenue and Dousman Street.  The site will be updated periodically as new information becomes available and as major project milestones have been reached.
This site will focus on the efforts to design the new Military Avenue.  Documents provided at public meetings and drawings showing current design plans and other relevant information will be available as downloads from the site.  As the project progresses through design into construction, the site will continue to offer schedule updates and possibly construction photos.
In March, 2009, the City of Green Bay Common Council directed the Department of Public Works to proceed with the design of a 4-lane signalized plan for the Military Avenue corridor.  Throughout the summer of 2009, Department of Public Works staff continued meeting with business and property and received public input regarding the proposed design.  The comments brought forth have been incorporated to refine the design of future Military Avenue.
This project is on-schedule to be constructed in 2010.  Utility construction, consisting of sanitary sewer, storm sewer, and water main construction is anticipated to begin in late winter/early spring 2010.  Other utilities that require relocation or upgrade, such as electrical distribution, gas, or telephone, will complete their work during this time period as well.  We anticipate pavement construction could begin as early as mid-May 2010.
