Coaster Proposed by Mayor Schmitt in State of the City 2009

Coaster Search Begins
Mayor Schmitt & Parks Director Bill Landvatter search for a coaster suitable for Bay Beach Park. They found the Zippin Pippin in Memphis Tenn. See History>>

Park Committee Approval
The Park Committee approves purchase of the Zippin Pippin on February 22, 2010. Item sent for Council approval. Park Minutes>>

Council Approval
The Council approves purchase of the Zippin Pippin after discussion on March 3, 2010. Council Minutes>>

Contract Signed
On March 19, 2010 the official contract is signed by all parties via video hookup. The $35,000 purchase agreement includes the exclusive rights to the Zippin Pippin name, design configuration as well as all high value historic materials of the roller coaster. See City History>>

Construction Schedule
Construction will begin on the footings in August, 2010

Groundbreaking set for August 25 at 10:00 AM at the construction site.

Construction on the coaster begins September, 2010.

October 9, 2010 - Tallest bent signed by residents.

November 10, 2010 - Tallest bent raised into structure.

The coaster opened May 27, 2011

Zippin Pippin Will Meets Its 200,000 Rider Goal

The City’s business plan requires 200,000 riders per year to make the project sustainable. The Zippin Pippin at Bay Beach has met this goal in just over two short months! Go>>

 

Zippin Pippin Comes to Green Bay

The Zippin Pippin at Bay Beach Amusement Park will be built of all new materials. Contracts were let out to local contractors for footings, lumber, and construction.

The $35,000 purchase agreement includes the exclusive rights to the Zippin Pippin name, design configuration.
