Frequently Asked Questions
Q. I’m selling my home (condominium, building, etc.) and my realtor has informed me I need to have a Clearwater sales inspection, what exactly does this entail?
A. All properties sold in Green Bay must be properly protected from sewage back-ups and clear water must be separated from the municipal sanitary system in accordance with the Plumbing Codes §16.08 and §16.11.
The inspection takes approximately ten minutes to complete, the inspector will look at the sump pump to see if it is in working condition and where it discharges to. If the inspection shows that storm sewer hook up is available, connection is required. They also check all plumbing fixtures below sidewalk grade for backwater protection. A check or money order in the amount of $30.00 is requested at the time of inspection. Inspection staff is not allowed to accept cash or credit card for payment of this fee at the inspection site. This fee entitles you to one follow-up inspection at no additional cost if corrections are found to be necessary, however if the follow-up does not pass inspection another $30.00 fee will be applied.
Q. How can I hook up to the mini-storm?
A. If it is available, hook up can be done at any time by a licensed contractor. If it is not available, then you will have to request that it be installed in front of your property. You can request this through your Alderperson, or call the Engineering Department at 448-3100.
Q. How do I obtain a heating license for the City of Green Bay?
A. You must show proof of your state license along with a $2,000 surety bond and pay $100 for a license. Renewal fee for a single category license is $50 each year, multiple categories is $100.
