The City of Green Bay has been receiving CDBG grant since 1973. It is administered by the Neighborhood Division of the City’s Planning Department. The purpose of this program is the creation of viable and healthy urban communities through the provision of decent housing, a suitable living environment and expansion of economic opportunities, principally for persons of low- and moderate- income. Eligible activities include acquisition of real property, removal of blighted housing, public services, direct economic assistance, housing rehabilitation and fair housing initiatives.
Through the CDBG program, the city is able to provide high quality services to low-income neighborhoods such as resurfaced sidewalks and alleys, park improvements, clearance of blighted property and public services.
