Inspection Service Specialist

The City of Green Bay Inspection Department is seeking an Inspection Service Specialist to assist in reviewing plans, coordinating inspections, maintaining inspection records, responding to inquiries and providing technical support.    

Duties include, but are not limited to, conducting review and issuance of permits and plans for building, heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC), plumbing, electrical, erosion control and zoning; overseeing and coordinating the inspections and follow up of complaints and environmental issues considered public health and public nuisances;  overseeing and coordinating the inspections of rooming houses, shelter facilities, mobile home parks, private wells and other required inspections for licensing in the City; performing and/or overseeing the plan review function; preparing various reports as required.

 

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Architecture.
  2. UDC state certification in the areas of plumbing, electrical, heating and building inspection or the ability to obtain within 1 year of employment. 
  3. Commercial Building Inspector Certification is required. 
  4. State of Wisconsin Registered Architect or Professional Engineer.
  5. Six years experience as a building inspector or related experience.
  6. Valid driver’s license and a good driving record.

A combination of equivalent experience and/or education may be considered.

Work schedule: Monday - Friday; 8:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m.; additional hours as required.

Salary:  $47,332-$59,075 plus excellent benefit package.
            

Residency:  Residency within the Green Bay corporate city limits will be required within one year of hire.
