The Department of Public Works is developing a pool of eligible candidates for current and future vacancies for the position of Laborer. Duties include loading solid waste/recycling onto compactor garbage trucks including heavy, bulky items such as demolition debris, concrete and refrigerators; performing minor maintenance on trucks including washing, refueling and minor greasing operations; and assisting truck drivers as needed. Performs other work related to the maintenance of streets including snow and ice control.
Qualifications:
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Must have valid Wisconsin commercial driver’s license and good driving record.
3. Experience driving large vehicles, trucks or semi trucks.
A combination of equivalent experience and/or education may be considered.
Work schedule: Regular: (5) 8-hour days, Mon.-Fri., 7:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.; Summer: (4) 10-hour days, 6:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. (summer). 40 hours/week.
Salary:
$16.74/hour (start), $19.69 (after 1 year) plus excellent benefit package
Residency: Residency within the Corporate City Limits of Green Bay is required within one year of hire.
