Program Description

The purpose of the Human Resources Department is to administer employee recruitment/selection; employee and labor relations; wage and salary administration; employee development; employee records; affirmative action; Wisconsin Family and Medical Leave; and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The Department is the chief spokesman for the county during labor negotiations and is responsible for negotiations with 17 employee bargaining units. The Department acts on behalf of the city in all matters pertaining to the Wisconsin Retirement System and other programs administered by the Department of Employee Trust Funds. Finally, the Department advises the Mayor, department heads, and employees regarding personnel matters.
