James S. Marshall

James S. Marshall 1867

James was born in Poultney, VT., on March 22, 1819 to Stranis and Mabel Marshall. He had two sisters and brothers Harvey and Linus. In his early years he left his Vermont home and opened a boot and shoe store in St. Louis, where he prospered several years.

In 1857, he came to Green Bay and went into the boot and shoe business once again. After few years he left that endeavor to go into the lumber business in partnership with his brother, Linus M. Marshall.

On November 23, 1862, James marrried Harriet K. Bailey in Green Bay They had four daughters, Sadie, Sarah, Mabel, and Abbie.

In 1867, he was Mayor of Green Bay, and as stated in the obiturary, "fulfilled the duties of office with the greatest of competency." James S. Marshall died on April 2, 1892 and is buried in Woodlawn Cemetery.
