
Joseph H. Tayler was born in Fort Howard in 1859, the son of Joseph and Melissa (Kennan) Tayler.
Joseph grew up and was educated in Fort Howard. After leaving school, he began his business life as Assistant Postmaster, holding that position for ten years. He was City Treasurer two years and was Mayor of Fort Howard, as well as Green Bay.
In 1889, he married Eleanor J. Richardson, daughter of George and Susan Richardson. They had one son, George R., who died as a child.
His banking experience began in 1892 at the McCartney National Bank. He remained in the position as cashier for fourteen years. He was also a director of the Green Bay and Fort Howard Water Works Company.
Joseph Tayler passed away May 25, 1959.
