Greater Green Bay Sustainable Task Force Meeting

September 21, 2006, 2:00 p.m.

City Hall

 

 

Members Present:  Mayor Jim Schmitt, Jeff DeLaune, Gary Delveaux, Christine Fossen-Rades, Michael Finney, Jessica Garrels, Ian Griffiths, Dr. John Katers, Rich Krieg, Tom Lesperance, Bill Lockery. Dan Roarty, Rob Strong, Allison Swanson, Clarence Wickham, Vijai Pandian

 

Gary Delveaux called the meeting to order at 2:00 p.m.

 

I.                   New Introductions (New Members)

Vijai`Pandian introduced himself as the new Horticulture Agent at UW Extension, replacing Paul Hartman. He is a graduate of Michigan State has been in the  position for a little over a month.  He indicated that his office.  He indicated that his office provides services in the area of research, education (home owners and green industries) and training diagnostics.

 

II.                Break up into subcommittees to work on Report Sections

Gary Delveaux reviewed the project list and breakdown of the subcommittees. Mayor Schmitt asked that the subcommittees decide on a chair for their group and come up with a plan for their topic that would include background, education, and implementation.  He is going to ask each group to write a report which will be for the public, and to design the report after the Milwaukee Green Team’s Report to Mayor Barrett.  Gary asked that committee members give some thought and share their ideas for the revised mission statement. 

 

At this time, the various subcommittees dispersed to various meeting rooms to begin brainstorming and writing ideas for their specific areas. 

 

III.             Reconvene to discuss issues/progress

The group reconvened at 2:55 p.m. in the Mayor’s Office.  The subcommittees reported back with proposed projects and information on their categories.  It was decided that subcommittees would submit a rough draft of their project plan by October 12, which is the next meeting date for the full committee. Chairmen of the subcommittees are as follows:  1)Marketing & Funding – Mayor Schmitt 2) Land Use & Economic Dev. – Rob Strong 3) Water/Air – Bill Lockery 4) Transportation – Dan Roarty 5) Energy Efficiency/Renewable Energy – Jeff DeLaune Subcommittees will meet prior to the October 12th meeting.

 

IV.             Next Meeting

The next meeting will be held on Thursday, October 12, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. in Room 604 of City Hall.
