1. Roll Call.
Vice
Chairman Tony Theisen called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.; Alds.
VanderLeest and Weber were excused.
Ald. DeWane was present to form a quorum.
2. Request by the Fire Chief to refurbish
pumper truck #461 for $110,000 in 2008.
This item was brought back to this
meeting in order to be added to an existing Fire Department purchase order for
repair of another vehicle. After
discussion, it was recommended by Fire Chief Jeff Stauber and Finance Director
Doug Daul to repair pumper truck #461 at this time rather than wait for a
complete refurbishment in 2008.
A motion was made by Ald. DeWane,
seconded by Ald. Deneys and carried to approve the award of repair to pumper
truck #461 to Marion Body Works in the amount of $32,118.
3. Request by the Finance Director for temporary
help in the Purchasing Division.
Finance
Director Doug Daul explained that there was a vacancy in Purchasing since June,
and that it was the request of Mayor Schmitt to leave this position open until
the 2008 budget is adopted. The
Division is in need of help and an ex-Purchasing employee is willing to work as
a temp for the rest of the year. This
individual will be paid 90% of the salary for the position, with no benefits.
A motion
was made by Ald. DeWane to approve the request by the Finance Director for
temporary help in the Purchasing Division.
It was seconded by Ald. Deneys and carried.
A motion
