Frequently Called Numbers

	What do I do if I get a citation for a Green Bay municipal ordinance violation, including traffic citations issued by the Green Bay Police Department?
	An individual has several rights and responsibilities. You may: Pay the ticket before the court date as stated on the ticket OR Appear in court on the court date and enter your plea of “not guilty”, “guilty” or “no contest” OR Write a letter to the court before the court date and enter a plea of “not guilty” at which time you will be sent a notice to appear for a pre-trial conference with the City’s prosecutor.
	What if I don’t do any of the above?
	If you do not take one of the above options, on the day you were to appear in court, you will be defaulted and found guilty as charged. You will be sent a notice that we have found you guilty and that your fine will be due and payable by a certain date.
	What if I don’t pay my fine by the due date?
	Failure to pay your fine by the due date will result in one or more of the following actions being taken: A warrant will be issued for your arrest, your driver’s license will be suspended, referral to a collection agency, and/or interception of your State tax refund. If you cannot pay your fine by the due date and to avoid any of the above actions being taken, you must either write the Judge a letter requesting an extension of time to pay which includes the reason why you cannot pay by the due date; or In the alternative, you must appear in person before the Judge on any Monday, Wednesday or Friday at 9:00.
	Municipal Court Offices are open from 8:00 am – 4:00 pm Monday through Friday. Court is held every morning, Monday through Friday. Jerry Hanson is the Municipal Judge.
